Implants are one option we use for breast reconstruction in Monterey. They work well because they’re safe, and silicone offers a natural feel. For another option, we can use your own tissue, like abdominal or back tissue, which can provide more natural results but requires longer recovery. For some patients, this can include the added benefit of a tummy tuck if we use abdominal fat transfer.

After breast reconstruction, the recovery process depends on the method we use. If we go with implants, you can expect some swelling, discomfort, and fatigue for the first few weeks. You’ll come in for follow-up visits, and we make sure you’re healing well.
If we use your own tissue, like from your abdomen or back, recovery takes a bit longer—around 4 to 6 weeks—since it’s a more involved surgery. In either case, we encourage you to walk regularly, but you’ll need to avoid heavy lifting or intense exercise while you heal.
