What Is PRF?
PRF (or Platelet-Rich Fibrin) is derived from your own blood. When blood is centrifuged, it separates into several layers. PRF contains highly concentrated amounts of growth factors to help regenerate and heal tissue. It also stimulates the creation of collagen.
There are many ways to isolate PRF, but they do not all have the same efficacy. The system used at our practice removes the most unfavorable products (red blood cells and inflammatory white blood cells) while producing optimal concentrations of platelets.
What Should I Look For When Getting PRF?
It is always wisest to have your PRP performed at a plastic surgeon’s office rather than going to a MediSpa. Each procedure is performed under the direction and supervision of Dr. Wendy Wong, a board-certified plastic surgeon. Board-certified surgeons and surgical nurses always enforce cleanliness and hold themselves to a strict code of ethics in their practices
Why PRF With Microneedling?
While microneedling induced collagen production, PRP can create additional skin tightening and speed up the healing process.

What to Expect
Preparation Before Your Procedure
Hydrate for two days prior to your appointment and for seven days after you procedure.
Avoid direct sunlight and no tanning for two weeks prior to your procedure and for one week after.
Arrive 40 minutes prior to your procedure so that we can make you as comfortable as possible with numbing cream. Bring a book or your smartphone to help the time pass by. During this time, we will review your informed consent and a syringe of blood will be drawn from your arm. From this, your PRF will be processed and prepared.
Plan on being in the office for approximately an hour or more.
During Your Procedure
Your procedure will last approximate 10 to 20 minutes.
Microneedling is performed on your facial skin, and while the channels and pores are open, the PRP is applied to the treatment areas, optimizing penetration.
After the Treatment
It is normal for your skin to look very pink after the procedure. Typically, recovery time is one to three days. Your collagen production will continue for the next eight weeks, and your skin will continue to improve.
Cover-up or foundation makeup is allowed to camouflage any redness and blotches as you heal.
Consider having someone drive you home after your procedure if you live far away.
Resume your Retin-A or skin lightening creams on post-procedure day four.
For the first three days, avoid strenuous activities that can cause you to excessively sweat as this may cause further irritation of your skin as you recover.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
It is recommended that you have three-plus sessions separated four weeks apart. We do not age overnight, so it makes sense that a series of treatments will give you the best results possible.
